Live the Dream

Joseph Palmieri, a Melbourne based graphic designer, is currently in New York on a Professional Career Training Program organised through Student Placement Australia (SPA) and our US partner CIEE.

" Before coming to New York I was running my own graphic design studio (Studio 131) in Melbourne. Five years down the track I decided to pursue a long time goal of mine and work as a graphic designer in my favorite city in the world. With SPA & CIEE’s help and guidance and my willingness to make it happen, I ended up finding a company that I could work for as an intern, Lippincott Mercer.

During my time at Lippincott Mercer I have had the opportunity to experience and actively participate in a variety of design disciplines that I wouldn’t have come across back in Australia. Working with other designers such as architects, package designers, interior designers, photographers and brand consultants has given me a broader understanding of my profession on an international scale and enabled me to work on large scale projects.

New York City is a great place to live and work in. The city is a hybrid of activity both day and night, 24/7. The food, architecture, and passion of its people give New York City an energy that makes it a melting pot for people like myself to live their dream".
