Student Placement Australia would like to congratulate Akira Hayashi from NSW for winning the Work and Travel USA Free Prize Draw for September! She now has the option of working in the US for up to a year, with an extra month just for travelling at the end.
Or of course she could travel for a bit and then get a job to help pay for the rest of her travels.
Akira said "When I was first notified that I'd won I thought it was a joke because I've never won anything big like this before. I was basically speechless for the rest of the day!
I've always wanted to go on a student exchange program but never got the chance to do so due to other commitments I previously had. So this program offered by SPA is a great way for me to make up for that lost opportunity.
The program also offers more freedom than student exchanges offered by universities. I'll be able to experience a broader range of cultures in the USA, and i'm looking forward to experiencing the country on a local level rather than as a tourist.
I've never been anywhere alone before and so it's also a great way for me to gain independence. It's quite an exciting yet a frightening thought as I'll be stepping into unfamiliar territory!
I'll definitely be visiting New York and California, and if possible, explore the other states between these big guys. There's a couple of friends I'd like to visit as well."
